This traditional form of healing is at least 4,000 years old. Unlike Western medicine which concentrates primarily on suppressing the symptoms of disease, Chinese medicine works with the body’s own natural energies to combat disease. This it does through the administration of herbs to regulate, balance, and strengthen the natural healing energies of the body, at the same time it also heals the factors which gave rise to the disease in the first place. Chinese herbs may be taken in the form of decoction, or tea, or else in the form of pills. As Chinese medicine is a complete system of healing in itself, it is effective against a wide range of complaints. Conditions which may respond particularly well include chronic viral fatigue tes such as M.E., menopausal problems, pre menstrual syndrome, gynaecologieal complaints and simple of anciety and depression. It may also be used, as it is in China, for a large number of internal medical conditions such as digestive and bowel disorders, and respiratory problems such as asthma and bronchitis. |
